Aleena, age 17
TIS writer of 6 years

We have been lucky enough to witness Aleena develop an unstoppable passion and talent for screenwriting here at The Ink Spot! She impresses us with her ability to combine all her favorite writing techniques and elevated plot devices into every script. Her characters will make you laugh, cry, and swoon!

Aleena, what project brings you the most pride?

My first completed original pilot script gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. It started as a short story after I was randomly struck with inspiration. I had never been that excited to write something before. Eventually I realized that I wanted it to be a screenplay. From there I fell in love with screenwriting.

Have your perspectives on writing changed since you joined us at TIS?

Yes! Before I thought that writing was purely academic and I only cared about finishing my writing pieces. I mostly cared about the grade I recieved. Now, I know that writing can be energizing, exciting, and pleasurable. I learned how to take in each step of the process and really enjoy it. When I am at the studio I feel like my writing can roam free. The studio creates an environment where my writing can flow without anything stopping it. I feel truly content at The Ink Spot.

How has your learning here benefitted you academically?

At the Ink Spot, I learned the skills necessary to excel in my english and social studies classes. English has become one of my favorite subjects. I was taught methods to easily translate my thoughts into quality writing. I am easily able to write quickly and effectively in my Advanced Placement Language and Composition class. My private tutoring and mentorship sessions helped me build foundational skills that have been crucial in my writing career. These sessions have shown me that writing can be truly enjoyable. I have also been taking a class called Successful and Stress Free College Applications and Essays. It has helped me prepare for college in a way that is efficient yet not overwhelming.

And finally, what do you like to do when you aren’t crafting insightful essays or writing dialogue that tugs at every heart string?

One of my frequent hobbies is traveling around the world. I have been to quite a few European countries as well as American States. I love to incorporate the places I have visited or have lived in into my writing. I am also in choir and am currently getting operatically trained. My voice is very unique as I am a contralto that can sing both tenor and alto parts. I absolutely love music of all genres including Pop, German Opera, and Bollywood.

Aleena’s fabulous mom Katja says:
”Aleena improved her writing skills tremendously in only her first 6 weeks at TIS. Soon after, writing became her passion. 6 years later she wants to be a screenwriter. There is nothing better than The Ink Spot. So impressive what the teachers get out of our children, how they boost their self-confidence, how quickly the kids see results, how professional and kind they are. The help that Aleena has received regarding everything around college admission is outstanding. We couldn't do it without TIS”
